Katie Chachich will graduate in May 2010 from the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) with a double major in technical theatre (B.A.), and dance (B.A.). Before attending UMBC Katie worked with Harford Community College's Cultural Events Program, Harford Dance Theatre, Bossov Ballet Theatre, and Baltimore Shakespeare Festival. Since '95 she has danced with Harford Dance Theatre in productions including The Nutcracker (Clara, Dew Drop Fairy, Snow Queen, Spanish), Harriet's Happiest Halloween (Harriet), Children's Fairy Tale Series, and many original works in Canvases. While with Harford Community College she was fortunate enough to serve as a technician for many touring companies including, The Washington Ballet, Philadanco, The Fab Four, The National Players, The Comedy Pet Theatre, and many more. In addition Katie has stage managed for several local dance studio recitals.
In her time at UMBC Katie has taken on the responsibility of master carpenter, master electrician, light board operator, sound operator, stage crew, and stage manager in various departmental productions and concerts. Katie has also choreographed two original dance pieces while at UMBC. She has expanded her technical knowledge by working with the Commons Student Union running technical aspects of live events on campus. Katie has been a cast member of Deviated Theatre's production of LORE since September of 2009. Recently both the department of theatre and the department of dance have recognized Katie with an outstanding service to the department award.
